ASX Alpha : Buy Greatland Resources (GGP:ASX)

******* General Advice Only *******

2nd September 2025

Company Overview

Greatland Resources (ASX: GGP) has quickly transformed from a junior explorer into a serious gold and copper producer. After buying 100% of the Telfer mine and Havieron project from Newmont in 2024, the company now controls two of the most important assets in Western Australia’s Paterson Province. Telfer is already producing cash flow, while Havieron is the growth engine with a feasibility study due by December 2025. The balance sheet is strong — no debt, plenty of cash from a heavily oversubscribed $490m ASX IPO at $6.60 per share. GGP was originally listed on the LSE and is now listed on the ASX also

Upside Catalysts

The near-term driver is Telfer, with FY26 guidance of 260–310 koz gold production. That cash flow supports Havieron’s build-out, which could deliver decades of production once ramped up. The “hub and spoke” model — feeding Havieron ore through Telfer’s existing mill — means lower capex and faster timelines. On top of that, analysts sees strong passive fund inflows when GGP is likely added to the ASX indices, a structural tailwind that could re-rate the stock. Analyst targets suggest significant upside from current levels, especially if Havieron confirms economics close to $1,150/oz AISC.

Risks

Execution is the main risk. Telfer’s costs are rising (guidance AISC $2,400–2,800/oz), and Havieron is still pre-feasibility. Commodity swings in gold and copper also drive short-term volatility.

Trading Plan

At today’s levels, GGP looks like one of the most asymmetric gold plays on the ASX: cash flow now, transformational upside ahead. Build a position on pullbacks, add into index inclusion, and hold for the Havieron feasibility milestone in late 2025.

Trade Rational

GGP did manage to rally to $7.30 after IPO but then quickly saw some profit taking and a fall down to just under $5. With spot gold rallying to new highs, GGP did manage a bounce to the low $6 area. So it looks like the lows are in on this pullback, so we now have a good risk to reward entry on offer

Trade Plan
  • Buy GGP up to $6.10
  • Stop Loss under $4.80
  • Initial Target $7.40
